This policy explains how AI Emoji handles photos that may contain a face, generated stickers, account data, and purchases. It applies to the iOS app and this website.
1. Information we collect
- Account and service data: your Sign in with Apple identifier, profile name or avatar if you provide one, app session data, generated-sticker records, saved items, feedback, and device/push identifiers needed to operate the service.
- Reference photos and text prompts: when you choose a photo or enter a prompt to create a sticker, we receive that item. A reference photo may contain a face.
- Profile avatars and feedback attachments: if you choose to upload either, the image may contain a face.
- Generated stickers and local DIY projects: an output sticker or an on-device DIY project may visually depict a face because it is based on your chosen content.
- Purchase and diagnostics data: subscription entitlement and transaction status supplied by Apple/RevenueCat, plus limited device, crash, advertising, and usage data used to operate and improve the app.
2. Face data: what it is and how we use it
We do not use facial-recognition technology and do not create, collect, or store face geometry, faceprints, biometric templates, or identity-verification data. The face data we may process is only the visual appearance present in a reference photo, profile avatar, feedback attachment, generated sticker, or local DIY project. We use a reference photo only to fulfil the sticker-generation request you initiate, such as adapting its visual appearance to the selected style and character direction. We use an avatar only to show your profile and a feedback attachment only to investigate your support request. We do not use reference photos or face data for advertising, identity verification, or our own model training.
3. Storage, retention, and deletion
- Reference photos: the app sends a selected image over HTTPS. We keep a temporary working copy in our Tencent Cloud Object Storage (COS) bucket in Hong Kong only while the generation job is processed. Our server deletes it when the job completes or fails. If a deletion attempt is interrupted or COS is temporarily unavailable, a durable cleanup task retries deletion and a 24-hour COS lifecycle backstop removes the source object.
- Generated stickers, avatars, and feedback attachments: we store these images in the same COS bucket. Generated stickers remain in My Packs until you delete the sticker, pack, non-default pack group, or account. A profile avatar remains until you replace it or delete your account. A feedback attachment remains only for the associated support request and is removed when you delete your account.
- Local DIY projects: DIY source images and projects stay only in the app's on-device app-group storage. They are removed when you delete that DIY sticker/project or remove the app.
- Account, prompts, and purchase records: generation prompts, account records, and our service-side subscription status remain while the account is active. Use Settings → Delete Account to remove them and the cloud assets from our service. Cancelling an App Store subscription is managed separately by Apple.
4. Processors and sharing
We do not sell face data or personal information. We share only the minimum information needed with these service providers:
- Tencent Cloud COS (Hong Kong): temporary reference-photo storage and generated-sticker, avatar, and feedback-attachment storage described above.
- APIYI / MrrBase, LLC (United States) and the configured GPT-Image provider: real-time processing of your reference photo and/or prompt to return the requested sticker. APIYI acts as a processing gateway and may share the request with the configured upstream model provider. APIYI states that request/response content is retained only for a short operational window, typically 3 to 30 days, for debugging, abuse prevention, and reliability; its separate security documentation states that it does not retain image/file content and keeps limited request metadata for 7 days. We therefore treat 30 days as the maximum published external retention window for a generation request, unless a longer period is required by law. These processors do not receive profile avatars or feedback attachments unless you submit them as a generation reference, and they are not permitted by us to use the input for advertising or our independent model training.
- Apple and RevenueCat: Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, and subscription entitlement. They do not receive your reference photos for subscription processing.
- PostHog, Google AdMob, and APNs: analytics, advertising, consent, and notification operations. They may receive device or usage data needed for those services, but do not receive your reference photo as part of their normal operation.
5. Security
We use HTTPS for transmission, COS encryption at rest, least-privilege access controls, a durable deletion-retry queue for temporary generation sources, and a 24-hour source-object lifecycle backstop. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect information and will respond to incidents as required by law.
6. Your choices
You can choose not to select a photo, delete generated stickers in My Packs, delete your account in Settings, revoke device permissions in iOS Settings, and manage subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings.
7. Children
AI Emoji is not directed to children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
8. Changes and contact
